Cheers to our Final Bottling of 2022!

We are happy to announce that we have wrapped up our final bottling for 2022! Preparing for the August bottling went hand-in-hand with preparations for harvest this year, so it has been a busy and lively time at the winery.

At Hawks View Winery, we bottle twice a year, and last week we completed a 6,000-case run. This round of bottling was focused on our still red wines and Chardonnay. This is the first year we have bottled magnums of the 2021 Muirfield, 2021 Barrel Select Pinot Noir, 2021 Jack's Pinot Noir, and 2021 Syrah. We bottled a select few magnum cases of the 2020 Whale, the highly anticipated blend of our best barrel of Pinot Noir and our best barrel of Syrah, meticulously hand-selected by our Winemaker, Don Crank. We are thrilled with the quality and ageable potential of our 2021 red wines and are eager to enjoy them for many years to come.

The 2021 harvest was a special season for us because, while many vineyards had lower yields that year, we had a surplus of grapes due to adjusted selling contracts. This surplus has become a major advantage as we approach what will be a challenging 2022 harvest. After the extremely unique spring weather experienced throughout the Willamette Valley, including a devastating frost event in May, we are expecting significantly lower yields this fall. The prolonged winter weather delayed the growing season, and with such a late start, it will be difficult to pick the grapes at optimal ripeness for red wines. We are looking ahead with optimism, and are encouraged that the 2022 vintage will be the year of delicious white wines! We look forward to bottling an abundance of White Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay in the years to come.

For now, we wait for these wines to settle into their cases, aging beautifully in our brand-new, climate-controlled Storage Warehouse. We hope you continue to enjoy your favorite Hawks View wines in their currently released vintage and look forward to sharing these bottles with you very soon!
