This block is the first planted on our property in the eighties. This type of self-rooted Pinot Noir is disappearing because of Phylloxora disease in the Willamette Valley. We are lucky to have some original plantings of Pinot that still produce this quality of wine as this type of vineyard is being removed in Oregon every year to be replaced by root stock plantings. It remains the finest example of what this vineyard can do in any given year when everything goes right
This wine is all about the dirt! The block that we source this wine from has been celebrated by Oregon winemakers for decades. The self rooted, Wadenswill clone is the real story here. Our Muirfield “vineyard within the vineyard” produces wines that show off the intense floral possibilities of the Chehalem Mountain AVA each year. The 2016 version is especially lively and rich. The wine will age gracefully for 10 years or more.
